1996 and electricity in 1998 you can choose who supplies your
energy. The first step is to switch your Gas to your local
electricity supplier and to switch your electricity to your local
Gas supplier on the basis they will always undercut the prime source
to win the business. However, if you are not fussed about who
supplies which service there is no reason why your supplier for
either service should not be at opposite ends of the country! You
may be tempted to go for a single supplier offering both gas and
electricity for the convenience of dealing with a single company
(Together with a 'dual-fuel' discount) but, you may end up paying
slightly more for the convenience.
